Here we are—launch day for my first picture book, God’s Little Flowers.
Selling picture books is an interesting thing, in that the book must appeal to two audiences: the children to whom the text and artwork is geared and the adults who 1) buy the books and 2) read them aloud (over and over and over again). I’m hopeful that this book reaches both.
God’s Little Flowers opens with a quote from St. Thérѐse of Lisieux, tells a story children can relate to, offers a brief child-friendly bio of the saint, and ends with a note for adults (that quotes not one, not two, but three popes).
Really, the message is one we all need to hear and be reminded of, that is that God created each of us with special gifts that we ought to cultivate and use to serve others for His glory. We are all His little flowers.
If this sounds like something you can get behind, I invite you to help me launch this book into the world today. In keeping with my theme, here are eight ways you can help support God’s Little Flowers.
Email me for a PDF version, then write a review and post it in at least two places. See some ideas for where in #2.
Buy a copy on Amazon, Our Sunday Visitor (buy two here and get free shipping!), Barnes and Noble, Bookshop, Target, ThriftBooks, or elsewhere. Shop local if you can.
Buy another copy for a school, church, doctor’s office, or similar.
Ask your library to stock the book and then make sure to borrow it when it comes in.
Complete and post the template below on social media today. The goal here is first to honor the women in our lives whom we see as God's little flowers, and second to spread the word about the book. Please tag me (IG: @lindsayschlegs; X: @lindsayschlegel) and @oursundayvisitor in your post. We'll share/repost as many shareable posts as we can!
If you already have a copy of the book (you lucky duck! Way to pre-order!), take a picture of it wherever you tend to snuggle up to read and share! Remember to tag me and OSV, as above.
Spread the word about bonus materials available on my website. At LindsaySchlegel.com, you’ll find a video with some hidden gems (see what I did there?) and free downloadable activity pages.
Say a prayer for the children and adults who will read this book, that through the intercession of St. Thérѐse of Lisieux, they may all have the courage and grace to serve God and neighbor in their own unique and unrepeatable ways each day.
I’ll end with warm thanks to Katerina Deem at Little Way Design Co. for trusting me with a story that came to her in a dream (!), Alex Penfold, Mary Beth Giltner, Kate Camden, Joy Laforme, Lindsey Riesen, Zach Silka, Rachel Joebgen, and the rest of the folks at OSV Kids.
St. Thérѐse of Lisieux, pray for us!
This looks so great! Congrats! 🎉
